This year has been The Year of Everything Bagel Seasoning in our home (with the way 2020 has turned out, we take the easy win). I have been trying to add it to everything possible because I am a woman obsessed.
While I tend to focus on sweet baked goods, my tastes have definitely evolved as I’ve aged and more and more savory items are creeping into my repertoire. These shortbread cookies are very much that: a cookie. Not a cracker, but a rich, buttery cookie, packed with nutty cheese and topped with a little sprinkle of everything right in the world.
They are addictive and delightful and would be amazing on a snack plate or cheese tray. Or eaten by the handful while standing in your kitchen, watching Netflix on your phone. No judgment.

Ingredients
1 stick (8 tbsp) of unsalted butter, room temp

1/4 teas. onion powder
1/8 teas. garlic powder
1/8 teas. salt
Crack of fresh pepper
1 1/4 cups flour
1 egg
Everything Bagel Seasoning
Directions
- In a bowl, using a hand mixer, mix the butter until creamy. Add the cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix to combine. Add flour in two batches, until just combined. Dough may be a little crumbly, but should hold together if pressed (the texture of play-doh). If needed, add water 1 teas at a time.
- Shape dough into a 2 inch diameter log and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350. On a cookie sheet lined with parchment, cut out dough into 3/8 inch circles and place on sheet, 1 inch apart.
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg and brush the tops of the cookies. Sprinkle liberally with everything seasoning.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, rotating sheet once halfway through, until edges are set, but before they turn golden.
Notes
- Parmesan is perfect in these but you can always opt for a different hard cheese – Romano has a more pronounced flavor.
